Handheld devices have come a long way since its inception. Mobiles are ever so powerful, capable, and multitasking today than in any point in human history, turning them into an essential part of everyday life for almost anyone. The advent and popularisation of such devices gave rise to several new enterprise management techniques. One such technique and probably one of the most significant of them is enterprise mobility.
What is enterprise mobility?
In simple terms, enterprise mobility means a business environment where the employees are connected by digital means. They can access important information, oversee their projects, and input in the business process through these connected environments. It can significantly increase productivity while decreasing overhead costs, and create new revenue streams and engage customers in a better manner.
An increasing number of modern businesses are adopting the enterprise mobility mindset. Recent studies show that at least 40% of organizations that operate with, or less than 100 employees, have adopted a mobility first approach.
There is a growing shift in businesses that consider "all things mobile" work policies. A significant number of companies offer a choice of workstations or allow their employees to bring their device to work with. It allows a certain degree of freedom as well as device and location independence which was previously harder to obtain and required extensive changes to core policies, structures, capabilities, etc.
It lies beyond the technology
The mindset of the employees has a crucial role to play in enterprise mobility, along with the technology they use for their work. Workplace and device flexibility is a feature that neo-gen employees favor the most. Organizations previously strived to achieve a tech-savvy group of employees who would be able to utilize that flexibility. Now, with particularly the younger companies, the mobile-savvy workforce automatically prefers the flexibility of choosing their workplace and device rather than the working with the limitation in an office environment.
Almost all of the major players in the IT sector have done extensive research in the enterprise mobility mindset. These studies showed that mobility solutions like custom applications for personal computers are preferred by at least 70% of all employees, including higher management. At least 40% of the workforce would prefer both a dedicated mobile app for everyone.
Mindset for succeeding in
The mindset required for enterprise mobility comes from adopting a set of practices. These are essential for business growth, helping the company understand, approach, and execute exact customer demand more precisely.
